Vanesa and Trennon

Our Story

It all started in the spring of 2013. Trennon had recently moved back to Provo, Utah, to reboot his bachelor life with some old friends. After a few short months, Vanesa moved into the same area and showed up at church where Trennon says he noticed her instantly. Vanesa seemed shy and mysterious, and she successfully dodged several of Trennon’s approaches. Finally, after introducing himself and learning her name, Trennon told his pals that he had dibs on this one.

It took a few weeks before Trennon was able to arrange for some of Vanesa’s new friends to convince her to go out with him. Having completely forgotten Trennon’s name, Vanesa was reluctant because she couldn’t even remember who this person was. She only finally agreed because Trennon offered to take her to lunch so the date could be quick if not painless.

On April 4, 2013, we met for lunch at Guru’s Cafe on Center Street in Provo. Trennon confessed to being a health nut and ordered a grilled salmon salad with no croutons. Vanesa was smitten and ordered the same. We enjoyed our meal at a table outside the cafe under an overcast sky, where Trennon successfully concealed his nervousness by avoiding discussion about himself and learned as much as he could about Vanesa. For him, one date was all it took.

Four years later and we’ve supported each other through more than we could have imagined on that first date, but through it all we've gained a previously unimaginable amount of respect and love for each other. We have become best friends, and we have been blessed with opportunities to become educated and to make a difference in the world together. We are beyond excited to take the next step in our progression. Thank you for being a part of it.

Funds for Our Future

Thank you all for the amazing love and support you have shown us during this special time. We know that all of you wish for our happiness, and some will want to give gifts to help us begin this new chapter in our lives together. We sincerely appreciate your generosity.

As we are both in pursuit of doctoral degrees, we are making the necessary sacrifices to prepare for the cost of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and to begin raising a family. We will have to leave behind many possessions due to limited living space, and we want your heartfelt gifts to be of the greatest benefit. So we ask you to consider contributing to our educational goals or our honeymoon fund in lieu of material gifts.

The following registry link will take you to a page where you can donate electronically if you so desire. Such a gift would be a great blessing to us at this time. Thank you!
